These ten music festivals attract people from all over the world with their large music selection and awesome festival grounds.

JazzFest – There aren’t too many places better for a festival than New Orleans. Jazz fest is a 10 day festival that goes everyday from 11AM to 7PM, leaving you plenty of time to explore the city.

Summerfest – With hundreds of bands playing every year, this Milwaukee music festival earns its title as the world’s largest music festival.

Bonnaroo – This festival is held in high esteems not only for its music, but for its over-the-top nature.

Sasquatch! – If indie music is your thing, this northwest festival may just be the one to go to.

Austin City Limits – With a music scene as robust as Austin’s, it is no surprise to find an equally dynamic festival. This long running festival has everything from jam and jazz to big mainstream acts.

Newport Folk Festival – For folk, country, bluegrass and similar genres this may be the festival to go to.

Lollapalooza – Not only is this festival massive, but it has a diverse musical selection whether you prefer indie or mainstream music.

Coachella – This festival’s combination of California weather and a diverse line-up have made it a favorite.

SXSW – What makes this Austin festival interesting is that it is not only for music but film as well.

The Vaccines, a four-piece indie rock outfit hailing from West London, do not shy away from their obvious post-punk influences on the 2012 album, “Come of Age”; their second and most recent release through Columbia Records.

Despite the swelling media hype surrounding them, these young Brits seem to simply follow in the footsteps of their regional peers (The Libertines, Babyshambles, etc.) in creating a straight-forward rock sound orchestrated by concise, reverb-drenched guitars and outwardly-poppy vocals on the part of frontman Justin Young. Yet somehow, despite paying homage to their clear post-punk roots ranging from The Strokes to The Jesus And Mary Chain, the band manages to make the sound completely their own, evidenced by energetic and upbeat anthems like “If You Wanna” and “Teenage Icon”, songs that revolve around themes like youthful nostalgia and relationships-gone-bad.

While their records tend to be short in length, and understandably so, there’s a lot to be said for these catchy tunes that give you the feeling of dancing wildly at an alcohol-infused high school party; these songs are not boring or in the least bit redundant. And even if their music ends up being tossed in the vast abyss of the indie landfill, they’ve at least gained a significant amount of attention and appreciation in their career so far.

Whether you like to stay home and watch old concerts via your direct tv packages or you’re in the middle of every mosh pit you’ve got to love live music. When you live in the Southeast you’ve got access to some of the best concerts in the country – here are a few of the best we’ve got on our radar right now:
Red, White and Bluegrass Festival – Held in Morganton, NC in the first part of July, this festival is a must if you’re a bluegrass fan. Even if you’re too cool for ‘hick’ music you’ll be surprised how dedicated these fans are – check it out!
On the Bricks – On the Bricks is an annual concert series held at Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta, GA and it hosts some of the best names in indie rock. Stroke 9, the Black Keys and all kinds of favorites play here.
One Direction – If you’re into the boy band renaissance then you’re into One Direction. They’re playing in Charlotte, NC at the end of June and the city’s got some other great live music venues, too!

Amanda Palmer is the Girl Anachronism

Amanda Palmer is a talented musician who first came to the public eye as part of the duo the Dresden Dolls. The group is part musical group, part theatrical event the duo wowed audiences and critics alike. This group became known for their quirky costumes and music, and the even quirkier lyrics , and were termed Brechtian punk cabaret.
Amanda began releasing solo albums to much success, while continuing to perform with the Dresden Dolls, and soon gained a cult following. Amanda’s solo works are often noted for their quirky and humorous style, as evidenced by “I Google You”, which was co-written with Neil Giaman. Admirers flocked to her website where they were treated to a host of multimedia projects, including a book and video diary “Who Killed Amanda Palmer”, which were companion pieces to her solo album of the same name and referenced another cult hit the short lived tv show Twin Peaks.
Recently Amanda married writer Neil Giaman and revealed an interesting part of her past as performer. Amanda began by performing as living statue bride on the street corners, and reenacted this as part of the first “non- legally binding” ceremony where she married Neil before the couple got legally married a few months later.

From her own indie movement to collaborations with household artists like rapper, Drake, Lykke Li has really gotten into her special style within the past few years. She has the unique talent of blending a number of genres smoothly into one such as pop, indie rock and electronic. Her first EP released in 2007 featured some moderate attention as she went in the direction of a soul, electro and pop mix. She’s taken her regional fame and created a much more broad appeal. She performed a song called “Gifted” with Kanye West.I found some more information here. She’s branched out into a number of different things such as creating a song for the soundtrack to The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Branding wise, she is the official face of Levi’s Curve ID Collection as well as getting her song “Until We Bleed” featured on a UK tv show titled “Misfits”. She has grown into a more global artist with great stage shows and performances. She’s slated to perform at the Latitude Festival at Henham Park in Suffolk, England. Her latest album was released back in March 2011 with some very strong reviews. She’s here to stayin Europe as well as on her way becoming a household artist.

Getting to know them and how they grew up is really interesting. You will get to view photos and videos on the online talk shows. You wil be able to listen to interviews with some really cool artists. There is a variety of genres including rock, punk, goth, and more from all around the world. Indie music has become very popular since 1980. The radio stations feature new Indie music, talk shows and radio shows. I love listening to one of my favorite music bands being interviewed. It almost seems like I have met them. If you are in the Indie music scene and love to hear interviews and news from your favorite artist, then you need to listen to Indie music radio.

In the past thirteen years a new trend in music festivals has emerged. The indie rock movement has it’s origins in the post grunge music scene in Seattle, Washington. Today in America on both coasts of the country there are festivals catering to indie music. Starting in the month of February, the Noise Pop Festival is held in San Francisco, California. The Snow Ball Festival is held in Avon, Colorado in the month of March. SXSW is held in Austin, Texas also in the month of March, but there are more festivals that progress during the rest of the year.

The Joshua Tree Music Festival which is held in May is close to the Joshua Tree National Park. An epitome of the indie music scene without the corporate sponsors. With acts from all over the world, this festival has something for everyone. Moving southeast to the foothills of Tennessee is the Bonaroo Music Festival. It is held at a farm outside of Manchester, Tennessee and swells to over 100,000 attendees.

In conclusion, the venues that make indie music possible have made it popular with many of the college aged Americans and beyond.
